Treatment
Opiate Addiction
The Power to Heal Yourself. Support and tools for people working through addiction to pain pills or heroin, in an outpatient setting close to home.
Chapter 01
What East Texas Clinic treats
East Texas Clinic specializes in the treatment of opioid addictions, such as pain pills and heroin. That is the focus here, not a general-purpose recovery program, and it shapes everything about how a first visit and a treatment plan are put together.
While everyone needs help and support to succeed, living in recovery comes down to having the tools and knowledge you need and the willingness to use them. The clinic works with each patient to make sure they are in the best possible mental and emotional state for recovery, rather than treating the addiction as a single event to fix and move past.

Medication, monitored closely
Detox and medication are part of the plan for opiate addiction here, and the medication itself is highly monitored by medical staff to make sure each patient is receiving a safe dosage. When used under medical supervision as part of a treatment program, methadone and buprenorphine can safely be taken without damaging side effects, and at the correct dose there is no impairment to mental function or the ability to perform daily activities.
This is an outpatient program. Patients receive medication at the clinic and attend counseling sessions on an appointment-based schedule, not an inpatient stay.
Chapter 03
Counseling is part of the plan, not optional
Individual counseling and group counseling both run alongside the medication side of treatment for opiate addiction, and counseling is required while receiving treatment at East Texas Clinic. It is both an integral part of any comprehensive treatment plan and a state regulatory requirement for those seeking medication-assisted treatment.
The clinic's counseling staff works to help patients deal with the underlying causes of addiction while learning new tools and coping mechanisms for long-term recovery, and it is individualized based on patient needs and state requirements rather than a fixed script everyone follows the same way.
Reaching someone outside clinic hours
Dosing happens early in the day, but questions about opiate addiction don't keep to those hours. The clinic runs a 24/7 answering service, so there is somewhere to call when something comes up in the evening or overnight rather than waiting until the next morning.
